Land Titles Office forms and fees

Paper titles need formal request

The NT Land Titles Office (LTO) will only issue paper titles in exceptional circumstances. If you wish to have a paper title, you must make a formal written request with a clear justification to the Registrar-General.

In accordance with section 44(1) of the Land Title Act 2000, the Registrar-General has discretion over whether to issue a paper title.

This page gives you access to the forms and fees for the Land Titles Office to register land and property transactions in the Northern Territory (NT).

You must do all of the following when you submit applications:

your signatures must be signed in front of a qualified witness
you must submit original application forms only to a Land Titles Office either in person or by post
you must print all forms on both sides of one piece of paper or you will be charged more
you must pay the required fee when you lodge your form at a Land Titles Office.

How to pay application fees

Applications lodged in person

You must pay your application fee at the same time you submit your form at a Land Titles Office.

You can pay by any of the following:

credit card
EFTPOS
cash
money order.

Money orders must be made out to the Receiver of Territory Monies.

Once received, the LTO will contact you to arrange payment for the lodgement fee.

If you are a practitioner and you have an ILIS account, the fee will be charged directly to your account.

If you wish to have documents returned to you, you will need to pay $29 for registered mail.

Witnessing requirements for the NT have not changed.

You must make sure the national mortgage form is signed by a qualified witness.

They must provide their full name, qualification and contact address or phone number.
