Changes to planning application signage

From Friday 21 January 2022, new signage will apply for all planning applications requiring public exhibition in these localities:

  • Darwin
  • Palmerston
  • Litchfield
  • Alice Springs.

If your development site is in any of these areas, you must use a custom sign.

If your site is outside of these areas, you will continue to use a stock sign.

Applications that need a custom sign

You must use a custom sign for an application that requires public notification including:

  • development application
  • rezoning
  • exceptional development permit
  • concurrent application.

Features of a custom sign

Custom signs include:

  • a customised image of the proposed development
  • a QR code that links directly to the Development Applications Online - Planning notices website
  • the application number
  • details of any proposed key variations – for example:
    • building height
    • setbacks
    • car parking
    • residential density
    • minimum lot sizes.

Image requirements for planning applications

From 24 November 2021, all applications will need to include an image of the proposed development. This will be displayed on your custom sign.
