Become a member of the NT Concession Scheme

To join the Northern Territory (NT) Concession Scheme, you must meet the eligibility criteria.

You must also submit a membership application with your supporting documents.

These supporting documents must confirm your identity and residency.

Who can apply

To be eligible for the scheme, you must be:

an NT resident and live or have lived in the NT for at least 183 days (6 months) of the financial year
an Australian citizen or permanent resident
receiving at least one of the following Centrelink or a Veterans' Affairs benefit:
- Age Pension
- Disability Support Pension
- Carer Payment
- Parenting Payment (single)
- Repatriation Health Card TPI or War Widower (gold card)
- Repatriation Pharmaceuticals Benefits Card (orange card)
- Pensioner Concession Card (maroon and blue card)
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (green card).

When you apply, you must provide 100 points of your identity and residency.

This includes at least one document from part A and part B, with at least one form of photo identification.

Approved Aboriginal corporations ID - 60:
- with your name, date of birth and photo
Certificate of Aboriginality - 60
Statutory declaration written by someone you have known for at least a year - 40:
- confirming your identity
- includes all previous names and a clear passport‐sized photo

You must supply at least one document that shows your current residential address. This can be:

NT driver’s licence - 40

working with children clearance (Ochre Card) - 40
Centrelink card with reference number - 40
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) card - 40
NT Concession Scheme Member Card (if cancelled within the last 12 months) - 40
NT Seniors Recognition Scheme Prepaid Card (if cancelled within the last 12 months) - 40
reference letter from Aboriginal corporation - 30
NT motor vehicle registration certificate - 25
student photo ID card from an Australian university - 25
health care card - 25
bank card from an Australian bank - 25
basics card - 25
council rates notice - 25
utilities bill (less than 6 months old) - 25
phone bill from an Australian provider - 25
tax assessment notice - 25
lease or rental agreement - 25
Australian marriage certificate - 25
change of name certificate - 25
your child’s birth certificate - 25.

Your application will take 20 working days to be processed if you provide all supporting documents.

If your application is approved, you will be issued a membership card.

Once you receive your card, you will need to:

contact your electricity and water provider with your membership number so that you can start receiving concessions
show your membership card to your optometrist and MVR to receive concessions
call NTCRU on 1800 777 704 to access your property concessions and to claim concession reimbursements.

If your card is lost or stolen, call the NT Concession and Recognition Unit on 1800 777 704.
