Information for businesses
You can accept the Northern Territory (NT) Seniors Recognition prepaid card if your business:
- accepts Visa or EFTPOS
- your EFTPOS machine is registered to a merchant category code that is not restricted under the scheme
- mainly sells goods and services that are not restricted.
If you meet these criteria, your business will automatically be able to accept the card.
No registration is required.
Some businesses are blocked from accepting the card. Find out more about restricted merchant categories.
How it works
The prepaid card is locked down to certain banking codes called merchant category codes.
You can call your bank to check what merchant category code your business and EFTPOS terminals are set up under.
The NT Concession and Recognition Unit can also use a test card to check what merchant category code your EFTPOS terminal is set up under.
It can be used in store, online or over the phone. Cardholders must always select the credit card payment option.
