Holding a flare demonstration

If you want to hold a flare demonstration or use flare signals and devices, you must submit a notice to the Marine Safety NT team.

This is to prevent flares being mistaken for real distress signals.

You must:

  • submit your notice at least 10 days in advance - to allow time for relevant agencies to be notified
  • comply with any relevant flare requirements.

You can only have demonstrations at Casuarina Coastal Reserve in the dry season after wildlife birds migrate. For more information, contact Parks and Wildlife Commission.

It's an offence to misuse flare signals or use it without notice.
