Find a vehicle inspection facility
Most vehicles require an inspection before you can renew registration.
Before you go for an inspection, check if your vehicle needs an inspection.
All vehicle inspection types can be done by an authorised inspector (local mechanic) - except for a compliance check.
Compliance checks must be done by a transport inspector in a government vehicle inspection facility as listed below.

Within Truck Central - access via Wishart Road, Tiger Brennan Drive end.
Standard hours
Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Excluding public holidays.
Services
You must book for the following services:
- roadworthy inspection
- heavy vehicle inspection and many more.
All vehicle types are required to book for an inspection.
Compliance check
If you're after a compliance check and re-check, you don't need to book.
You must:
- present your vehicle to the by-pass lane (far left)
- let staff know you're there.
An inspector will carry out the check when available.

This facility provides the following services:
- light and heavy vehicle compliance checks
- the following inspections:
- heavy vehicle rating
- written-off validation
- livestock rating
- modified vehicle
- commercial passenger vehicle compliance
- authorised inspector exams.

If you need a compliance check in one of the below locations, you must make a booking:

To book, call the Motor Vehicle Registry office on 1300 654 628 during business hours.
Vehicle inspection
If you need a vehicle inspection and live in a remote community or on a cattle station, you can get a mobile authorised inspector to come out to you.
