Some Northern Territory Government offices will close over the coming Christmas and New Year period.
Alice Springs
Bus services will be closed on:
- Thursday 25 December 2025
- Friday 26 December 2025
- Thursday 1 January 2026.
Darwin
Bus services will be closed on Thursday 25 December 2025.
Sunday timetable will operate on:
- Friday 26 December 2025
- Thursday 1 January 2026.

The Territory Business Centre will be closed from Thursday 25 December 2025 and will reopen on Friday 2 January 2026.
The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet will be closed from Thursday 25 December 2025 and will reopen Friday 2 January 2026.

The Department of Children and Families will have a partial closedown from Thursday 25 December 2025 and will reopen Monday 5 January 2026.
Essential and on-call services will continue to operate as usual throughout the Christmas and New Year period.
Child Protection will continue to operate Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, closing on public holidays.
The child protection reporting line will continue to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Department of Corrections corporate office will be closed from Thursday 25 December 2025 and will reopen Friday 2 January 2026.
The Holtze Youth Detention Centre will remain open for visitors during the Christmas period.
There will be no personal visits on Thursday 25 December 2025 and 1 January 2026 at the Alice Springs, Berrimah and Darwin Correctional Centres.
The Department of Corporate and Digital Development will have a partial closedown from Thursday 25 December2025. All services will be available from Monday 5 January 2026.
Services remaining open include:
- Accounts payable
- ICT services
- Payroll.
The Department of Education and Training will be closed from Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen Monday 5 January 2026.

SAFE NT's front counter at 71 Smith Street, Darwin will be closed from Monday 22 December 2025 and will reopen Monday 5 January 2026.

- National police check.
The call centre will be open during normal office hours except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

The NT Herbarium facilities in Alice Springs and Palmerston will be closed, and the following services are unavailable during the closedown period:

The Pollution Hotline remains operational 1800 064 567.
The Fines Recovery Unit will be closed from Thursday 25 December 2025 and will reopen Monday 5 January 2026.

Royal Darwin Hospital's outpatient department
Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Palmerston Regional Hospital
Palmerston Regional Hospital's ambulatory care department:
Closed from Monday 22 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026.
Palmerston Regional Hospital's phlebotomy service:
Closed to the public from Monday 22 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026.
Central Australian region
Central Australian primary health care
Nyirripi Health Centre:
- open for essential services from Friday 19 December 2025 to Wednesday 31 December 2025
- all additional services for this location will be delivered by Yuendumu Health Centre.
Kings Canyon Health Centre:
- open for essential services from Friday 19 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026
- all additional services for this location will be delivered by Hermannsburg Health Centre.
All other health clinics will remain open, except on public holidays.
Alice Springs Hospital's outpatient department
Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Reduced services will be in place from Monday 22 December 2025 to Friday 2 January 2026.

Closed from Monday 22 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 12 January 2026.

- closed on public holidays, on call arrangements for emergencies only on these days.
Nhulunbuy Community Care Centre:
- closed from Wednesday 24 December 2025 and will reopen on 5 January 2026.
Big Rivers Region
Big Rivers primary health care
Numbulwar, Pine Creek, Robinson River and Borroloola clinics:
- open for emergencies only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
Katherine Community Health clinic:
- closed from Tuesday 24 December 2024
- reopens on Thursday 2 January 2026.

Tennant Creek general practice
