Richardson Park community space
Richardson Park has been redeveloped to create a welcoming space for sporting groups and the community.
This site has historically been the home to rugby league. The NT Government recognises this history by keeping the grounds available for sporting and recreational use.
Facilities
This venue has all of the following:
Playing fields
- Two rectangular playing fields are available.
- Main field has irrigated turf, subsoil drainage and removable rugby goal posts. It is the primary field for organised training and games.
- Second field is suitable for general community use.
- No sports lighting will be available at night.
Storage
- Four storage areas are available on site.
- Can be licensed for the duration of a sporting season.
Shared path
- A 2.5‑metre‑wide, 660‑metre‑long concrete looped path is available for walking, running and cycling.
- Distance markers built into the path.
- Solar‑activated path lighting that turns on at dusk and off at dawn.
Playground
- Children’s playground with nearby seating.
Toilets and change rooms
- Toilets and change rooms are located next to the playing fields.

Barbecue and picnic areas
- An electric barbecue and 2 picnic shelters are available for public use.
Hardstand area
- A concrete hardstand area with power (2 post‑mounted 15A special‑purpose outlets) is located near the main field and car park. May be suitable for a pop‑up canteen or food van.
Car parking
- Sealed parking is available off Richardson Drive.
Using the park
Low‑impact, non‑commercial activities that do not disturb the land are allowed without a Crown Land Licence. These include:
- using the playground
- barbecuing and picnicking
- running and bike riding
- walking dogs
- parking
- general recreation.
These activities are permitted under the Usage of Crown Land Policy PDF (705.3 KB).
All other activities may require a Crown Land Licence.
How to book fields
Sporting clubs can apply for casual or seasonal use of the playing fields.
For seasonal bookings, applications should be submitted about 10 weeks before the season starts:
- dry season from April to December
- wet season from October to March.
If multiple requests for the same time are received from different peak sporting bodies or unaffiliated groups, the delegate will determine the allocation.
Successful applicants will receive a Crown land licence under the Crown Lands Act 1992, permitting use of the facilities for the specified dates and purpose.
