What you need to know about camping
Camping is only permitted in designated campsites in Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park.
What to do when camping
- Take your own water, tank water is available in the park but can run out.
- Treat before consuming.
- Use the designated firepits - fires are prohibited at Ormiston Gorge.
- Collect firewood before entering the park.
- Use gas barbeques or fuel stoves wherever provided.
- Collect your firewood before entering the park.
- Put your rubbish in bins where provided or take it with you.
You cannot bring your pets or use a generator.

You must book and pay online for designated campsites and some multi-day walking trails. Do this before you go.

- Ellery Creek Big Hole - caravans allowed.
4WD campsites
Bush camping
- Serpentine Chalet
- Finke 2 mile.
Education campsites
Bookings required for:
- Simpsons Gap
- Ormiston Gorge and Pound.
