Alice Springs

There are four main mountain bike trails in the Alice Springs network.

The trails, named by traditional owners, are:

  • Ilentye (galah)
  • Arrwe (black-footed rock-wallaby)
  • Tyape (witchetty grub)
  • Apwelantye (black kite).

You can also ride along a section of the Larapinta Trail as part of the Tyape Trail.

To plan your ride, get the Alice Springs mountain bike trails (721.6 kb).

There are trailheads at Schwarz Crescent, Spencer Hill and Wigley Gorge. The main trailhead is at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station.

Shelters and signs mark each trailhead and rust-coloured totems will help guide you through the trails.

Alice Springs bike and equipment hire

Go to the visitor centre in Todd Mall for trail information and to find out where to hire bikes and equipment.

At the Telegraph Station trail stop you can hire bikes, helmets, locks and get information.
