Preparing a clear and complete response is essential when quoting or tendering for NT Government work.

Once the opportunity has been prepared, released to market and you have received a quote brief (request for quote) or downloaded the tender documents from Quotes and Tenders Online (QTOL), follow the steps below to prepare your response.

Step 1. Understand the requirements

Before you start your response:

  • read all documents carefully to understand the scope and deliverables
  • check for any mandatory requirements, like site visits or briefings
  • note the closing date, time and submission method.

Step 2. Gather your documents

Make sure you have:

  • valid licences or accreditations
  • current insurance certificates
  • examples of similar past work, especially for larger contracts.

Step 3. Write a clear response

When completing your response:

  • use the response schedules provided to stay consistent
  • address every selection criterion with examples and evidence
  • keep it clear and to the point - avoid unnecessary details.

Step 4. Ask questions early

If you need clarification:

  • contact the enquiries officer listed in the tender documents
  • ask questions within the specified time
  • be aware that answers may be shared with all potential suppliers - confidential details will not be disclosed.

Step 5. Do final check before submitting

Before you submit:

  • check that your response is complete and accurate
  • follow all formatting and file type requirements
  • proofread to fix any spelling or grammar errors.

Step 6. Submit your response

To submit:

  • allow plenty of time before the deadline
  • use the method stated in the documents, usually QTOL
  • confirm that your submission was received.
