Managing your contract
Once your offer is accepted, you are in contract with the NT Government. Both parties must fulfil their obligations to ensure a successful outcome.
Keep copies of all key documents, including:
- your tender or quotation
- the associated conditions of contract
- any relevant supporting materials, such as any negotiations that happened.

How to communicate
- Use your contract manager as your main point of contact.
- Keep all written records of communications to help if any issues arise.
- Hold both informal and formal meetings to keep the relationship on track.
Manage contract risks
- The level of contract management depends on complexity and identified risks.
- Understand risk factors early to avoid delays or disputes.
Monitor performance
- Deliver against key performance indicators (KPIs) and local benefit commitments from your contract .
- Report any issues early and in writing—maintain clear communication.
Manage delivery
- Confirm delivery times and locations before starting work.
- Adhere to agreed schedules and performance obligations.
- Any changes to the scope or schedule must be discussed and approved in advance.
Contractor performance report
- At the end of the contract, the agency will complete a performance report, covering:
- quality of work
- contract administration
- health and safety standards
- local content commitments.
- Your performance report may be shared with stakeholders like Contractors Accreditation Limited (CAL).
- Good communication throughout the project supports a positive outcome.
Payment
- Contracts will specify either milestone payments or a lump sum.
- Review your contract to understand the payment schedule and process.
