Check your vehicle registration
This page has information on how you can check your registration status online or through other ways including by phone or email.
Rego Check Online allows you to check:
- status of vehicle registration
- vehicle registration expiry date
- vehicle inspection date (if needed).
Enter your registration number
The search is only available for vehicles that have been or are registered in the Northern Territory (NT).
Rego Check Online will show you:
- the status of your vehicle registration
- your vehicle registration expiry date
- your vehicle inspection date
You will need to enter the characters on your number plate - eg: CA11AA.
If you are checking a trailer plate – use the leading character 'T'. For example the below plate would be TA3456.
If you have a WWII plate you will need to enter 'WWII' followed by the plate number eg: 'WWII956'. This rule also applies for passenger vehicles – eg: 'TAXI956' and 'MO1956'.
If your registration details do not display, contact MVR.

Through the Personal Property Securities Register
The Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) is a national register where you can get the following information on a particular vehicle:
- registration status
- written off or stolen status
- monies owing (debt) to banks or finance companies on a vehicle.
You can call the PPSR on 1300 007 777 or go to the Personal Property Securities Register website.
You will need the vehicle identification number (VIN) or chassis number to check the register. There is a small fee for this service.
