Birthing services for women in the Barkly region are in the Alice Springs Hospital.
Midwifery Group Practice
Pregnancy care is provided by the Midwifery Group Practice in Tennant Creek in collaboration with the general practitioner clinic, Anyinginyi and Alice Springs Hospital based obstetric services.
The Midwifery Group Practice is located in Tennant Creek Clinic, in a house next to the Tennant Creek Hospital.
It operates Monday to Friday, with a 24 hour on-call service for pregnant women.

Obstetrics clinic for special care
Women with medical conditions needing higher levels of care are referred to the obstetric specialists at Alice Springs Hospital.
Telehealth is used each week for consultations.
Ultrasound services are offered to women when needed at the Tennant Creek Hospital.
If you are pregnant with diabetes you can get care through the diabetes clinic (DANCE) in Alice Springs Hospital remotely on Wednesdays.
Travelling to Alice Springs
You will travel to Alice Springs at 38 weeks of pregnancy to wait for the labour and birth.
Accommodation, travel and all pregnancy appointments in Alice Springs will be organised before you leave home.
Labour and birth
Labour and birth will take place in the Alice Springs birthing suite.
After the birth
Depending on your needs, you will return home straight from the hospital or you may be discharged back to accommodation and given support by Alice Springs Hospital Midwifery Group Practice or domiciliary midwives.
Once you return home with your baby, you will get support for six weeks from Tennant Creek Midwifery Group Practice either at home or in the clinic. You can also get support from Anyinginyi, Tennant Creek General Practice and the Maternal and Child Health Service.
