Business Growth Program – grant applicants
To apply for a grant through the Business Growth Program, your small business must:
- be a Territory Enterprise
- have a valid Australian business number (ABN)
- have an annual turnover of more than $75,000 but less than $10 million
- have at least one full-time equivalent and no more than 50 full-time equivalent employees, including owners and directors.

What you can apply for
You can apply for a grant to reimburse the following services provided by an approved service provider:
- strategic business planning
- workforce development and planning
- people management
- cultural awareness
- marketing and communication planning
- digital marketing
- market research
- organisational governance
- work health and safety
- business improvement and innovation
- supply chain management and planning
- records and document management
- environment, social and governance
- procurement
- financial planning
- financial performance
- information and communication technology management.

Funding for website development or redesign is available if it's part of a business re-positioning or re-branding strategy.
Approved service providers
Services must be provided by an approved service provider.
Search and select an approved provider using the directory on the Territory Business Centre website.
You must perform your own due diligence to ensure a provider is suitable for your needs.
If your chosen provider is not listed, they must apply to become approved service provider before your grant can be awarded.
To use an interstate service provider, you must provide proof that no local providers can do the work. This includes:
- a written justification
- an Industry Capability Network report and
- evidence of efforts to find a local supplier.
How to apply
To apply, follow these steps:
Step 1. Prepare your application
For your application, you must include the following supporting documents:
- financial documents
- service details
- an application summary
- at least 2 quotes from service providers - use the quote checklist DOCX (70.4 KB) to ensure the quotes are valid
- rationale for your preferred quote.

Step 2. Submit your application
Submit an application with supporting documents via GrantsNT.
Your application will not be assessed unless you provide all supporting documents. Additional requests for information may occur.
If you don’t have a GrantsNT account, you must create one (even if you are a sole trader).

After you apply
The department will assess your application and notify you of the outcome.
If successful
You must accept the funding agreement within 14 days. Once accepted, the approved work can begin.
Within 6 months of receiving the agreement, the work must be completed.
If you need an extension, contact the department before the expiry date.
You must also follow the program's acquittal, reporting, and evaluation requirements.
Once work is completed
You must submit your acquittal with the following:
- evidence of completed works - refer to the evidence of works additional guidance DOCX (69.0 KB)
- a detailed invoice for the approved works - use the invoice checklist DOCX (70.8 KB) to check all information is included
- proof of payment - e.g. receipt or remittance invoice.
Failure to submit an accepted acquittal by the due date could result in loss of funding and affect future NT Government grant eligibility.
You should contact the department early if you anticipate issues with acquittal.
When you will receive funding
Funding will be reimbursed to you after the approved work is completed, and acquittal is accepted.
To receive the funding, you must have an NT Government vendor ID. If you don't have one, you can register via InvoiceNTG.
Make sure your GrantsNT account details matches your vendor ID. Log into GrantsNT to check and update your account.
Change or cancel funding
If you need to change the approved works or scope, you must reapply with new quotes.
To cancel your grant or not proceed with the approved works, contact the department.
If you received funding before October 2024
The new program guidelines won't apply until your current funding agreement ends.
You can still refer to the previous terms and conditions.

If you haven't reached the $10,000 limit this financial year, you can submit additional application that:
- are for at least $2,000 of work
- meets the current program guidelines.
