Apply for your vehicle registration history
You can apply for your vehicle registration history if:
- it's your information
- the owner of the information gave you written consent and a copy of their identity - e.g. ID card
- you have legal authority to request the information or
- you're from a law enforcement agency.
What's included
It may include any of the information below:
- your vehicle details
- date you bought or sold the car
- registration expiry date.
Fee
You must pay the history search fee.
How to apply
You can apply online, by email or in person.
Online
Go to Territory Services to apply for:
- licence or registration history (M6) - for yourself or on behalf of a non-government organisation or company
- driver or vehicle information (M10) - if you're a government agency or council.
By email or in person
To apply by email or in person, follow these steps:
Step 1. Fill in the relevant application.

Step 2. Attach the following supporting documents:
- evidence of identity and residency
- authority documents - if required.
Step 3. Submit your application with supporting documents and pay the history search fee.
Email mvr.infosearch@nt.gov.au. You can pay the fee:
- by Visa or Mastercard
- over the phone by calling 1300 654 628.
In person
Go to an MVR office. You can pay the fee by cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa or BasicsCard.
