Temporary visa holders now eligible

The Northern Territory Government has recently committed to expanding the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme (NTSRS).

The NTSRS recognises the valuable contribution seniors make to the NT through a $500 prepaid card issued each financial year.

From 1 July 2021, NT residents who are 65 years or older, hold a temporary visa and a valid Medicare card registered to their current NT residential address, will be eligible for the NTSRS.

Temporary visa holders will have access to the NTSRS Prepaid Card from 1 July 2021, but they are able to apply for membership to the scheme now. Find out how to become a member.

From 1 July 2021, the approved uses for the NTSRS prepaid card will also be expanded to give members more choice and flexibility in how they can spend their payment. New ways the NTSRS card can be used include for purchasing groceries, disability supplies and white goods, and for veterinary, car registration and driver’s licence costs.
