Apply to join the Education Standards and Registration Board

The Northern Territory Minister for Education and Training is seeking candidates for the inaugural Education Standards and Registration Board.

A minimum of 7 board members will be appointed to help establish the board's governance, priorities and working culture.

The Education Standards and Registration Board Bill 2026 is establishing the statutory board to:

• independently advise the minister on curriculum, assessment, certification, teacher standards and
• implement the Teacher Registration (Northern Territory) Act 2004.

Who should apply

Applicants should have a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience in one or more of the following capability areas:

• education systems, school and student performance
• teaching and learning practice
• workforce development
• law or regulatory practice
• corporate governance.

Territorians with knowledge of the education system, as well as people from diverse cultures and those living and working in regional and remote communities are welcome to apply.

Eligibility and how to apply

To be eligible, you must be an NT resident and consent to recruitment-related checks.

Your application must include:

• a cover letter summarising relevant experience and skills
• a curriculum vitae including a recent photograph and copies of your qualifications
• at least one written reference
  • references should be signed and dated, include referee's contact details and relationship to you, address your relevant skills, experience and suitability for board membership

• a completed statutory declaration form DOCX (27.2 KB)
  • confirming you are a fit and proper person for appointment and disclosing any matter that may affect your suitability
• a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre card) or evidence you have applied for one
• a National Police Check or evidence you have applied for one.

Applications that do not include all required evidence can't be assessed.
