Update your details in the land title register
If your name or postal address has changed, you should tell the Land Titles Office (LTO).
It's important to keep these details up to date so you can continue to receive notices from the LTO, such as a:
- statutory charge or
- land caveat against your property.
Your address may also be used by other government organisations to contact you about your land.
This includes the Power and Water Corporation, Valuer-General's office and local councils.
Who can apply
To apply, you must be the register owner or owners.
You can also authorise a legal practitioner or conveyancer to do this on your behalf.
Fee
A $176 fee applies to change your name.
There is no fee to change your address.

To change your name, follow these steps:
Print application
Print the below application on a single sheet of A4 paper using double-sided printing.

Fill in and sign application
Fill in and sign the application in front of a qualified witness, who will also add their signature.

Attach proof
Attach proof of change of name. This can be one of the following:
- an original birth, marriage or change of name certificate issued by a Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) office
- an original current passport
- a certified copy of the certificate of change of name - for a company name change:
- you can get the certificate from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.
If you're changing back to your maiden name, you must attach your original marriage and birth certificate.
LTO may also ask for more proof. For example, a statutory declaration.
Submit application
Submit all of the below to the LTO in person or by mail:
- original application
- evidence of the name change
- original title certificate, if you've had one issued.
All original identity documents will be sighted and returned to you.
If you're submit your application by mail, include a self-addressed, return-registered envelope. This way, you can get your identity documents back.
After you apply
If your title certificate is with a bank, you will need to ask your bank or financial institution to produce the title certificate.
Your bank or financial institution may charge a fee to do this.

Fill in and sign the application
You must do this in front of a qualified witness, who will also add their signature.
Submit application
