Search for a land title
You can search all registered land titles and dealings in the NT for a fee through the Land Titles Office (LTO).
This can be done:
- online
- over the phone
- by email
- in person at your nearest Land Titles Office.
It will include the property’s current owners, as well as any mortgages or encumbrances.
If you perform 10 or more searches a week, you can apply for an integrated land information system (ILIS) account.

Fee
A $42 fee applies.
Online
An online search is the quickest and most affordable.
You can search by the street address or property parcel. Searches using the volume or folio may not give current titles.
You can also search for a dealing using the dealing number. Dealings can include registered mortgages, covenants, discharges and transfer of property ownership.
Follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to the NT title search website.
Step 2. Search for the address.
Step 3. Add your search to the cart.
Step 4. Click on the cart to checkout.
Step 5. Confirm payment.
Step 6. Check your email, download and save your title within one day of your request.
By phone
You can call the search clerk at the LTO Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Follow these steps:
Step 1. Call 08 8999 6520.
Step 2. Give the full details of the property you want to search for.
Step 3. Pay with your credit card.
Step 4. Check your email for the title.
By email
To apply by email, follow these steps:
Step 1. Fill in the land title request form with your credit card details for payment.

Your land title search will be emailed to you.
