Home renovation grant

If you buy an established property as your first home, you may be able to get financial help to renovate or improve it.

You can get up to $10,000 under the home renovation grant.

Who can apply

You can only apply for the home renovation grant once you have been approved for the first home owner discount.

Find out more about the first home owner discount at the First Home Scheme website.

Owner-builders or do-it-yourself renovators can't apply.

How to apply

Apply online now if you are a first home buyer.

If you get a home renovation grant

You must use a local business to renovate or improve your home.

A local business is one that operates in the Northern Territory (NT), has a permanent base here and employs NT people.

If the local business doing the renovations wants to employ sub-contractors, they must also be local businesses.

You can use the grant with up to five different businesses if they meet these conditions.

What you will get

You will get a voucher to use with each business you want to deal with up to a value of $10,000. This includes the amount you want to spend on household goods.

The minimum value for each voucher is $500.

There is no cap on the total value of the renovation or improvements that you want to do.
