Get Learn to Swim vouchers for your child
Voucher and program applications now closed
Applications will open at 8am on Wednesday 1 July for:
- 2026–27 sport vouchers and Learn to Swim vouchers
- the water safety awareness program.
If your child is under 5 years old and not enrolled in school, you can apply for the Learn to Swim program in the Northern Territory (NT).
The program gives your child two $100 Learn to Swim vouchers each year - one in January and one in July.
You can use the vouchers to enrol them in swimming lessons with a registered activity provider.
Who can apply
To get a Learn to Swim voucher, your child must be all of the following:
- a resident of the NT
- under 5 years old
- not enrolled in transition or school.
You can only get one voucher in a semester - either a Learn to Swim voucher or a sport voucher.
If you already have a sports voucher, you can use it instead to enrol your child in swimming lessons.

To apply for the Learn to Swim voucher, follow these steps:
Step 1. Register your child for the water safety awareness program.
Learn about the program on the Royal Life Saving NT website.
If you’re not sure if your child is already registered for the program, or if you just need your voucher number, call 08 8981 5036 or email wsap@rlssa.org.au.
Step 2. Apply for your voucher through GrantsNT. You will need to register if you don't have an account.
If you don't have access to the internet or need help, contact:
- the sport voucher team by calling 1800 817 860
- the activity provider you want to use or
- your child's school.
Libraries have computers with internet access. Find a library in the NT.

Using the vouchers
You can only use the Learn to Swim vouchers for swimming lessons with a registered swim activity provider.
You can't use it for any of the following:
- to buy items such as bathers, goggles, swimming equipment or toys
- lessons that have already taken place
- swimming pool entry fees
- to trade for cash.
