NXT Gen ARTS grants

If you’re a young Northern Territory (NT) artist or arts worker, you can apply for up to $13,000 to support a 3-month placement with host arts organisation or creative industry business.

Placements should be full-time and take place between 30 January and 30 June 2024.

Host organisations can be:

  • not-for-profit arts organisations registered and based in the NT
  • for-profit creative industry businesses registered and based in the NT.

Who can apply

To be eligible, you must be aged 18 to 25 at the time of applying.

If you are already employed by your chosen host organisation, then you can't apply.

You must also meet other eligibility requirements in the Arts Grants Program guidelines.

Applications open Monday 16 October and close 2pm Monday 13 November 2023.

If you have a confirmed placement

If you have a confirmed placement, you will need to:

  • meet with your chosen host organisation to complete a placement plan which will form part of your application
  • sign the placement plan and get the host organisation to sign
  • request the current insurance certificate from your host organisation
  • apply online through GrantsNT.

The placement plan template is available on GrantsNT or by contacting Arts NT.

As part of the plan, you will need to provide a budget. You can apply for up to $10,000 to cover your artist fees based on the relevant awards rate. Up to $3,000 of the grant can go to the organisation to cover administration fees.

If you don't have a confirmed placement

If you are unsure which organisation to work with and don't have a confirmed placement, follow these steps:

Step 1. Fill in an expression of interest form.

Step 2. Submit the form to arts.office@nt.gov.au by Friday 27 October 2023.

Step 3. ArtsNT will contact you to match an organisation with your career goals, pending availability.

Step 4. Once you and the organisation have met and you have completed and signed a placement plan, you can apply online through GrantsNT.

After you apply

Applicants will be notified of funding outcomes from 4 January 2024.

You can only start activities after the funding agreement is signed.
