Home-based and mobile food businesses

If you're a home-based or mobile food business in the Northern Territory, there are rules that apply.

You must meet food safety standards and register your business.

Home-based food business

A home-based business is when you make food from home to sell to others.

It's suitable for small scale and low to medium risk food activities such as:

  • baking cakes
  • making jams and biscuits.

Mobile food business

A mobile food business involves making and selling food from a mobile or temporary food premises like a food van or market stall.
