Gambling codes of practice

Introduction

There are two codes of practice for responsible gambling in the Northern Territory.  They aim to minimise harm to individuals and the community from problem gambling.

The Code of Practice for Responsible Gambling 2016 applies to all forms of gambling except online gambling.

The Code of Practice for Responsible Online Gambling 2019 applies to online gambling licensed under an act other than the Racing and Betting Act 1983.

It includes web-based, app and telephone betting on any device such as:

  • computers
  • tablets
  • smartphones.

The Code of Practice for Responsible Service of Online Gambling 2019 applies to all online gambling licensed under the Racing and Betting Act 1983.

It includes web-based, app and telephone betting on any device such as:

  • computers
  • tablets
  • smartphones.

The codes set down what NT gambling providers must do to help reduce harm caused by problem gambling.

They also encourage licensed gambling operators to take extra steps to further minimise harm.
