Report bushfire arson and suspicious fires
There are rules about lighting fires. Starting a bushfire is dangerous and can harm lives, homes, and the environment.
It's against the law and can lead to up to 15 years in prison.
If you see someone acting suspiciously, you must report it to the authorities.
How to report
To report suspicious behaviour happening now, call NT Police on 131 444.
To report a fire, call 000.
If you know someone who started fires illegally, contact Crime Stoppers NT:
- call 1800 333 000
- make a report on the Crime Stoppers NT website.
What to report
If you see suspicious fires or behaviour, follow the below steps:
Step 1. Remember the time and location.
Step 2. Write down the description of:
- people acting suspiciously, any unusual activity and
- vehicles entering or leaving the area during fires.
Step 3. Report this information to NT Police or Crime Stoppers.
