Darwin Community Legal Services

Darwin Community Legal Services (DCLS) offers a range of free legal and support services, including:

  • general legal - legal advice on most areas of law
  • tenants advice - for anyone who rents in the NT
  • seniors rights - advocacy and support for older Territorians
  • disability rights - advocacy and support for people with disability
  • financial counselling - advocacy and support to people experiencing financial difficulty.

DCLS also holds free after-hours legal advice sessions on a regular basis throughout Darwin, Casuarina, Palmerston and Katherine.

You can talk confidentially with a lawyer who can:

  • give you advice about common legal problems
  • suggest action
  • help you to write a letter or prepare other simple documents.

DCLS can't offer advice for family or criminal law matters.

Free after-hours sessions

Walk-ins are welcome, you do not need to make an appointment.

You can attend these free sessions more than once.

Available via walk-in (no appointment required)

DCLS runs free walk-in advice clinics in Katherine.
