Nominate a place or object to the Heritage Register
You can nominate a place or object to the Northern Territory (NT) Heritage Register - giving permanent protection.

How your nomination will be managed
The Heritage Council can refuse a nomination if it's not done in good faith.
If your nomination is accepted, the Heritage Council will start an assessment.
The assessment process includes:
- doing original research
- visiting the site and recording details
- consulting with relevant people
- checking the nomination against official heritage criteria.
This process can take 6 months or more.
During the assessment, the Heritage Council may:
- change the name of the place to reflect its correct historical name
- change the size of the area being assessed if new information is found
The Heritage Council may share its preliminary findings with the owners and other people who could be affected.
The Heritage Council will decide if the place or object is officially significant by using the heritage criteria listed in the Heritage Act 2011.
