Land council roles and contacts
The Aboriginal Land Council in the Northern Territory (NT) have legal power to help Indigenous people negotiate with governments and private companies over projects on Aboriginal lands. Read the law.
They also support Aboriginal people to manage their traditional lands and seas including issuing permits for entry, fishing, filming and other activities.
You must contact the relevant land council to apply for permits or for more information about the roles and responsibilities of Aboriginal Land Council.
Aboriginal people can claim traditional land and sea rights under Commonwealth law. Read the law.
