Larapinta Trail

Larapinta Trail Open Hikers must take particular care due to changed conditions. Flooding has caused extensive grass growth, erosion of trail surfaces and the deposition of flood debris. Hikers need to wade and swim through water at several locations. Work is ongoing to repair the trail and improve visibility.

Section 5 - Birthday Waterhole to Hugh Gorge Open Hikers need to wade and swim through 2 pools of water in Hugh Gorge. There is no alternative route to follow so hikers must be prepared to enter the water and you will need to protect your pack and equipment with a dry sack. -
