Shoal Bay Coastal Reserve

At Shoal Bay you can spot a rainbow pitta, orange-footed scrubfowl, jabiru or brolga.

It's open during dry season only.

When wet season waters start to recede, you can see these birds mostly at drying marshes and swamps in the reserve.

Shoal Bay also protects large areas that are culturally significant for the Larrakia people.

There are 1,000 year old shell middens on higher ground near the swamps.

Hunters can also try their luck here for magpie geese and approved duck species over the course of the designated hunting season.

This park requires visitors to the NT to have a parks pass.

You need a permit to hunt magpie geese and water fowl.
