NXT Gen ARTS grants

If you’re eligible, you get $13,000 to do a work placement with an arts organisation.

This includes $10,000 to cover your artist fees and $3,000 to cover the organisation's mentoring and administration fees.

The organisation must also be:

  • registered and based in the Northern Territory (NT)
  • one of the following
    • not-for-profit arts organisation
    • for-profit creative industry business.

Your placement can be full-time for 3 months or part time for up to 6 months.

Who can apply

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an NT artist or arts worker
  • aged 18 to 25 at the time of applying.

If you are already employed full time by your chosen host organisation, then you can't apply.

You must also meet other eligibility requirements in the Arts Grants Program guidelines.

Applications are open from 1 August 2024 to 31 May 2025, or until the funding runs out.

If you have a confirmed placement

If you have a confirmed placement, you must:

  • meet with your chosen host organisation to complete a placement plan which will form part of your application
  • sign the placement plan and get the host organisation to sign
  • request the current insurance certificate from your host organisation
  • apply online through GrantsNT.

The placement plan template is available on GrantsNT or by contacting Arts NT. As part of the plan, you must provide a budget with your allocated amount mentioned above.

If you don't have a confirmed placement

If you are unsure which organisation to work with and don't have a confirmed placement, follow these steps:

Step 1. Fill in an expression of interest form.

Step 2. Submit the form by email to arts.office@nt.gov.au.

Step 3. ArtsNT will contact you to match an organisation with your career goals, pending availability.

Step 4. Once you and the organisation have met and you have completed and signed a placement plan, you can apply online through GrantsNT.

After you apply

Applicants will be notified of funding outcomes within 30 days.

You can only start activities after the funding agreement is signed.
