Student Wellbeing, Inclusion and Program Services (SWIPS)
SWIPS delivers services to schools to support students who may need additional support with their:
- disability
- behaviour
- wellbeing.
SWIPS works with all government schools across the Northern Territory (NT). Your child does not need to have a disability to be referred for SWIPS services.
Multi-disciplinary team
The SWIPS team works with school principals and school educators to address student needs.
The team includes:
- senior teachers
- occupational therapists
- speech therapists
- psychologists
- social workers
- positive behaviour implementation coaches.
Support for schools
SWIPS provides services to schools that support student wellbeing and inclusion through:
- professional learning for educators
- consultations and advice
- delivery of targeted programs
- responding to critical incidents
- provision of specialist services and resources.
The team also manages requests for:
Targeted support for students
The SWIPS team works in partnership with the school, family and student.
With your permission, the team can:
- observe your child in the classroom
- train, coach or mentor educators
- request adjustments to the curriculum
- conduct formal assessments
- work with students outside of the classroom
- recommend referrals to other services.
How to access SWIPS
Only your school can make a request to SWIPS. You will need to speak with your school about accessing the service.
