Early Childhood Services Subsidy
The Early Childhood Services Subsidy is paid directly to regulated early childhood education and care providers to help with the cost of providing a service and reduce the cost for parents.
Eligibility
The following regulated services are eligible to receive the subsidy:
- long day care
- family day care
- 3-year-old kindergarten.
Subsidy rates
The subsidy has 2 rates:
- $30 per equivalent full-time place per week for children aged 2 years and under
- $22 per equivalent full-time place per week for children aged 2 to 5 years.
How it is calculated
The subsidy is calculated on the average number of equivalent full-time places in a financial quarter, multiplied by the number of operating weeks.
The department will monitor and check the accuracy of data provided by early childhood education and care providers by cross-checking with data published on the National Register of services.
How it is paid
The Early Childhood Branch sends an agreement form to eligible services before each financial year.
The subsidy is then paid quarterly by electronic funds transfer (EFT) into a nominated bank account.
