How to report a scam

You should report any scams to the Northern Territory (NT) Consumer Affairs on 1800 019 319 or consumer@nt.gov.au.

They can tell the public about the scam through the media and social media.

For scam warnings, follow the NT Consumer Affairs Facebook page or go to the WA ScamNet website.

You can also report scams to the National Anti-Scam Centre's Scamwatch. They will give you information on how to recognise, avoid and report scams.

Reporting identity theft

You should report any identify theft to IDCARE.

IDCARE is Australia’s national identity and cyber support service. They deal with:

  • identity theft
  • hacking or phishing
  • telephone, romance or investment scams
  • data breaches
  • ransomware
  • lost or stolen credentials.

Their website provides information on cybercrime, including what it is, and how you can protect yourself.
