Getting started
If you're ready to supply goods or services to the government, your next step is preparing your business.
Whether you want to quote on smaller jobs or tender for large contracts, follow these steps to get ready.
Get your business ready to supply
When quoting or tendering for government work, you might need:
- a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
- relevant insurance (for example, public liability and workers compensation)
- industry licences or accreditation, like Contractor Accreditation Limited (CAL) for construction projects
- a clear description of your products or services
- a short capability statement (recommended but not mandatory)
- references or examples of past work (especially for larger tenders).
Be visible where we look
Government buyers don’t always need to advertise small quotations.
You can help your business stand out by registering with relevant industry networks, including:
- Industry Capability Network NT (ICN NT) – used by buyers to find local businesses
- NT Indigenous Business Network or Supply Nation
- your relevant industry body or website, where applicable.
This helps buyers find and engage your business. You can also directly contact NT Government agencies to let them know about your business.
Register with Quotations and Tenders Online (QTOL)
If you plan to tender for government work, you must register with Quotations and Tenders Online (QTOL).
QTOL lets you:
- get notifications of upcoming opportunities
- download tender documents
- submit your response online.
