Apply for approval as a manager

If you are a motor vehicle dealer, it is your responsibility to appoint a manager.

You must get approval for each manager you recruit, and for each car yard you operate.

The person you recruit

The manager for your car yard must be:

  • over 18 years 
  • not bankrupt or have salary assigned to creditors
  • free of criminal records or charges for fraud, dishonesty or physical violence within the last decade
  • likely be a fair and honest business manager.

Before you apply

You must prepare and submit the following documents for the person in the application:

  • current photographic identification - eg: driver licence, passport, birth certificate - and provide certified true copies if not submitted in person
  • receipt from a police criminal history check, for which you must pay a name check fee
  • two written referee statements, stating the individual is a fit and proper person to manage a licensed motor vehicle dealer.

Step 1. Fill in an approval to manage a licensed motor vehicle dealer form.

Step 2. Check the fee.
Step 3. Submit your application and fee at your nearest Territory Business Centre.
