Introduction
NT regulation update: agriculture and livestock changes
From 22 May 2025, the Agriculture Legislation Amendment Regulations 2025 came into place, amending:
- Hemp Industry Regulations 2020
- Livestock Regulations 2009
- Pastoral Land Regulations 1992
- Plant Health Regulations 2011.

This section is for animal producers who want to find out more about monitoring and control programs for livestock diseases in the Northern Territory (NT).
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries carries out disease surveillance activities on pastoral properties and small farms around the NT.
These activities take place as part of a national surveillance system designed to prevent new diseases coming into Australia or existing diseases spreading to new areas.
