Transfer or sublease a pastoral lease

You must get the consent of the Minister for Environment and Natural Resources or their delegate to transfer or sublease a perpetual pastoral lease. Read the Pastoral Land Act 1992.

To get consent follow these steps.

Step 1. Read the guidelines

Step 2. Prepare your application

You must address every item on the vendor and purchaser checklists.

Step 3. Purchase size

If your purchase results in you holding more than 13,000 km 2 of pastoral land, read the maximum holdings guidelines PDF (73.2 KB).

Step 4. Attach documents

Attach any supporting documents needed as listed in the checklists.

Step 5. Fill in the form

Complete and sign the consent to transfer or sublease form -  you can find this in the guidelines.

Step 6. Pay the fee

The fee is 138 revenue units. Find out more about revenue units.

You can pay by cash, cheque, money order or credit card. Payments must be made to the Receiver of Territory Monies.

Step 7. Submit your documents

Submit your application and supporting documents by mail or email to:
