Types of personalised and special number plates

Standard number plates are available in:

• ochre characters on white background
• black characters on yellow background
• black characters on white background.

Special number plates are available with a character sequence up to five or six characters in a standard size only.

You can apply for the:

• explorer Territory series - with the image of the explorer John McDouall Stuart and the southern cross (white characters on blue background only) or
• regional series - with the slogan and symbol that represents a particular region (ochre characters on white background only).

If your vehicle has club vehicle registration, you must display a club series plate.

The club series is available in white characters on red background only.

• over 4.5 tonne gross vehicle mass (GVM) and
• registered as special purpose.

It's available in black characters on orange background only.
