Communications and dispatch networks
Introduction
A communications and dispatch network is any system which is used for communicating with, controlling or coordinating a commercial passenger vehicle (CPV).
This includes any of the following:
- two-way radios
- selective call radios
- mobile phones
- smart phone applications
- computer dispatch data transfer systems.
All CPV networks must apply for communications or dispatch network approval prior to operating.
You do not need network approval if you are a CPV driver who receives a request for hire directly to your mobile phone.
You can use a combined communications and dispatch network if you are operating more than one type of CPV.
The location of the communications network office must be approved by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics.
There are also requirements you must meet for:
- communications equipment
- and management systems.
