Eligibility

Check if you’re still eligible for the NT Concessions Scheme.

All members of the Northern Territory Concession Scheme (NTCS) must make sure they still meet the eligibility criteria to keep receiving their concessions.

If you no longer meet the requirements, you could:

  • lose your benefits
  • in some cases, be required to repay the support you've already received.

What you need to know

Whether you've been a member for years or recently joined, it's important you check your details and keep your information up to date.

If you joined before 8 November 2017

You must:

  • live in the NT
  • renew your membership each year
  • continue to receive the same Australian Government payment or allowance you held on 8 November 2017.

If you joined the old NT Pensioner and Carer Concession Scheme based on your age, this last condition doesn’t apply to you.

If you joined on or after 8 November 2017

You must:

  • be a current NT resident
  • live or have lived in the NT for at least 183 days (6 months) during the financial year
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • receive at least one of the following Centrelink Benefits:
    • Age Pension
    • Disability Support Pension
    • Carer Payment
    • Parenting Payment (single)
  • or receive at least one of the following Veterans' Affairs benefit:
    • Repatriation Health Card TPI or War Widower (gold card)
    • Repatriation Pharmaceuticals Benefits Card (orange card)
    • Pensioner Concession Card (maroon and blue card)
    • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (green card).

What you need to do

Read the following to find out what you need to do to avoid  loosing your benefits or having to repay.

Renew your membership every year

We’ll contact you when it’s time to renew, usually in January each year. It’s important you respond and submit your renewal so we can continue your membership and avoid overpayment or cancellation.

Keep your Centrelink or Veterans' Affairs payment active

If your eligibility changes—for example, you stop receiving a qualifying payment—you must let us know as soon as possible. Continuing to claim concessions you’re no longer entitled to may result in a debt.

Keep your details up to date.

If you have changed address or received a new payment, let us know.

This helps us get in touch with you and make sure your benefits continue without interruption.
