Prepaid card expansion
The Northern Territory (NT) Government has committed to expanding the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme (NTSRS) to make the scheme accessible to more people and to give seniors more choice about where they can spend their annual $500 payment.
From 1 July 2021, the approved uses for the NTSRS prepaid card expanded, enabling members to spend their annual $500 benefit at almost any business.
Expanding the use of the NTSRS prepaid card will provide more flexibility for our members, ensuring they have more choice about the goods and services they can use their annual payment for.
Some of the new ways NTSRS members can use their card include purchasing groceries, disability supplies and white goods, and for veterinary, car registration and driver’s licence costs.
Changes to the scheme will be introduced for new cards issued for 2021-22 to increase approved uses of the prepaid card and extend membership to eligible temporary visa holders, increasing accessibility of the scheme for seniors across the Northern Territory.
All current and new members approved on the scheme by 30 June 2021 will be issued with a prepaid card from 1 July 2021. The prepaid cards take approximately 20 working days to be received by members via post. These new cards will be issued with an expiry date of June 2022 (06/22) and can be used at almost any business.
