Introduction

Tennant Creek Hospital is a 20 bed hospital that serves the Barkly region.

It assesses, diagnoses and treats short-term illnesses and injuries.

There is also a 16 chair renal unit which provides a dialysis service to the Barkly region.

Tennant Creek Hospital's emergency department is open 24 hours. You do not need an appointment.

Making an appointment at Tennant Creek Hospital

Except in an emergency, admission to hospital is through referral from your GP, health clinic or agency.

Obstetric patients are advised to attend the pre-admission clinic about four weeks before you are admitted.

Surgical patients should contact the hospital on (08) 8962 4399 a week before and the day before your scheduled surgery to check if there are any cancellations due to bed shortages.

Cancellations

While every effort is made to ensure your surgery happens on the date given, your appointment may be postponed because of other emergency admissions.

Visiting Tennant Creek Hospital

Visiting hours for all wards are between 10am to 8pm every day.

If you want to visit outside normal visiting hours, you should ask the nursing staff.

You may not be allowed to visit if you are drunk.
