Medical pathology services provides information for:
- diagnosis, monitoring, exclusion of disease processes, and their treatment
- health screening
- epidemiological data.

- anatomical pathology
- chemical pathology
- forensic pathology
- haematology
- blood transfusion
- immunopathology
- microbiology
- molecular microbiology
- serology.
Referral forms
Your healthcare provider must provide you with a pathology request form to use this service.
Results will be sent back to your healthcare provider for your follow-up care.
Request forms are valid for 6 months from the date of request.
Most medical pathology services will be subsidised by the Australian Government through the Medical Benefits Scheme if you are an Australian resident or international visitor entitled to Reciprocal Health Care.
