Final year higher education scholarships

You can apply for one of four $15,000 scholarships in an identified allied health workforce shortage with the Department of Education.

What you can get

After you complete your studies and pass pre-employment checks, you will receive:

  • a payment of $15,000
  • permanent employment with the Department of Education as a Professional Level 1 (P1)  or 2 (P2).

Who can apply - 2024 scholarships

You can apply if you're a Charles Darwin University student in your final year studying:

  • psychology or
  • social work.

You must also:

  • apply and be successful for a permanent P1 or P2 school counsellor or psychologist position
  • graduate with Charles Darwin University between mid-2024 and mid-2025
  • get registration with the relevant national board or demonstrate eligibility for full membership with the relevant professional association
  • be an NT resident and an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • complete essential pre-employment checks such as getting a working with children clearance
  • start your new employment as soon as practicable once you complete your studies.

How to apply

You must prepare a job application and apply for the scholarship.

To do this:

For your job application, you will need to provide:

  • a resume and cover letter
  • your CDU academic results
  • 2 referees
  • evidence of your Australian citizenship or permanent residency
  • certified identification to confirm your residential address such as an NT driver licence, bill or other photo ID.

After you apply

You will get a confirmation email that your job and scholarship application was received.

If you meet the criteria, your application will be reviewed by the panel. They will complete pre-employment screenings, referee checks and interview shortlisted applicants.

Successful applicants

If you're successful, you will need to confirm your course completion date and pre-employment checks.

You will sign a letter of offer for your employment and a deed of agreement confirming you will continue to meet the scholarship criteria and terms.

Scholarship payment of $15,000 will be made to your nominated bank account after successfully completing your studies.
