Step 3  - Contact the Registrar Non-Government Schools

If your complaint has not been resolved by the school or school’s peak body, you can submit a written complaint to the Registrar Non-Government Schools.

The registrar will review your complaint to determine if a serious incident or breach of registration may have occurred or is occurring.

To allow the registrar to make a determination,  the written complaint must include:

  • a clear description about the issue and
  • the steps you have taken to try and resolve the issue with the school and school’s peak body.

Email your written complaint to registrarngs.doe@education.nt.gov.au.

Breach of registration

The non-government school registration standards provide the minimum standards for the school in the areas of:

  • governance and finance
  • curriculum, teaching, assessment and reporting
  • child safety and wellbeing
  • distance education
  • boarding.

The school must demonstrate compliance with these standards on an ongoing basis to be registered and to continue operating in the NT.

The registrar can authorise a special investigation into a school for a potential serious incident or breach of registration.
