Inclusive Education Support Grant

Services or programs may include:

• assessments and early intervention services
• access to specialist treatment, therapies and management services
• providing equipment, aides and access to specialist technology to access education
• supporting children to access education where there may be barriers
• programs to navigate transitions into and during different stages of education
• programs which support wellbeing and opportunities to develop skills.

Key focus areas

While the focus is children with disability, the department will prioritise key focus areas to receive funding each round.

For this round, the key focus areas are organisations that provide services or programs to children with:

• vision impairment
• hearing impairment
• mental health conditions like anxiety, depression and eating disorders
• autism spectrum disorder
• Down syndrome.

Funding conditions

Your grant funds must only be used for achieving your program’s or service’s objectives. This may include:

• salaries for staff that are attributed to the provision of the service or program
• operating and administration expenses related to the delivery of service or program
• resources for the program or service
• specialist equipment, aides and technology for assessment or education purposes
• essential transport costs for children, teachers, specialists or professional and support personnel
• consultancy and advisory services
• curriculum development
• monitoring and evaluation of educational programs and other services.

You cannot use any funds for:

• a program or service that does not occur within the NT
• other programs or services provided by the organisation
• international travel
• fund-raising activities.

To be eligible, you must:

• be a not-for-profit and non-government organisation
• provide a program or service that supports children with disability to access and engage in education
• have an Australian business number
• have no overdue reporting including financial acquittals for any other Northern Territory Government grant
• currently hold or have applied for public liability insurance with cover of at least $10 million per event.

Children with disability

A child with a disability is a person:

• under 18 years old
• who has an imputed disability, or has been assessed, or is being assessed by a person with relevant qualifications, as:
  • having an intellectual, sensory, physical, social or emotional impairment
  • meeting the eligibility criteria under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

Children whose only impairments are specific learning difficulties are not eligible.

A selection committee will assess your application using the selection criteria in the information guide.

You will be notified by email of the outcome within 6 weeks of the closing date.

Successful applicants will be required to sign a funding agreement.

At the end of each year grant recipients must provide an acquittal.

Grant recipients must also  provide an evaluation on the program or service that they have provided.

You'll need to identify any key successes and areas for improvement.
