Notify of a student leaving school with an unknown destination

Non-government schools must notify the Department of Education and Training when an enrolled compulsory school-age student leaves and their new enrolment destination is unknown.

Notifying the department helps with visibility and following up on at-risk students to support their school enrolment and attendance.

For more information about non-government school registration responsibilities and regulatory processes, read the non-government school regulation guidelines PDF (744.5 KB).

How to notify

You must notify within 5 days of the student leaving or after the student has been absent for 20 days without an acceptable reason.

Step 1. Complete the non-government school student enrolment - unknown destination form DOCX (81.3 KB).

Step 2. Email it to se.doe@education.nt.gov.au.
