Step 1. Start a conversation

Starting a conversation about your concerns can often lead to a quick and positive outcome.

Before you start

If you have already tried to resolve your concern directly with the school or service area you can go to step 2 - make a complaint.

How to start a conversation

2 Speech bubbles one with a question mark  Know what your main concern is.
Laptop and phone  You can raise your concern by phone or email or you can ask for a meeting.
Thought cloud  Think about what a good outcome could be and if the school or service area could support this.

2 people one standing behind the other

You can have a support person or an advocate to assist you.
2 speech bubbles one with 3 dots  Both you and the school or service area will need to respect each other's opportunity to share thoughts, ideas and give feedback.
2 people shaking hands

They will listen and work with you to resolve your concerns.

Circle with X in it  If you're unhappy with the outcome you can go to step 2 - make a complaint.
